UCTSO Concerto Festival

Some of the top performers from the SACM who successfully auditioned to perform at this festival will play alongside the University of Cape Town Symphony Orchestra (UCTSO) under the baton of Brandon Phillips. The Festival held every year serves as a launching pad for accomplished classical music instrumentalists and singers in performing with a symphony orchestra.
This year's featured soloists are Lihle Mabhula (flute), Sigqibo Tokwe (bassoon), Dirk Nagtegaal (piano), Keon Müller (clarinet), Giorgia Ehlers (piano), Lilitha Nkuku (mezzo-soprano), Helen Liu (violin), Trygve Nissen (cello), Emma Henshall (violin), Daniel Hughes (tenor), Rachel Nell (soprano), Buhle Swelindawo (soprano) and Kumkani Kabane (euphonium). The programme includes works by Damase, Hummel, Ravel, Crusell, Saint-Saëns, Handel, Sarasate, Dvorák, Mendelssohn, Puccini, Mozart and Gluck.
