CSSR researcher publishes definitive study of the European lynx
Dr Marine Drouilly, an Honorary Research Associate at the Centre for Social Science Research (CSSR), has published a major new study of the European lynx.
Le Lynx Boréal, published in French, draws on Drouilly’s research in south-east France and other parts of Europe and explores the ecology and conservation of the Eurasian lynx. The book is illustrated with striking photographs by renowned wildlife photographer Laurent Geslin.
Drouilly completed her PhD at UCT, where her research focused on jackals and caracals in the Karoo. Her work has since taken her into international wildlife conservation, and she currently works for the international conservation organisation Panthera, supporting efforts to conserve leopards and other wild cats across West Africa.
Her latest publication builds on her extensive experience in field research and wild cat conservation, bringing together scientific research and visual storytelling to provide an in-depth account of one of Europe’s most elusive predators.
