The Centre for Social Sciences Research (CSSR) and the  Institute for Democracy, Citizenship and Public Policy in Africa  (IDCPPA) at the University of Cape Town invite you to join us for a lunchtime seminar on 22 September at 12:45pm. The seminar will be presented by the SWIFT team.

About the Seminar:

An Overview of Key Findings and Learnings from the Swift Study: 2023 - Present

The SWIFT Study (Supporting Wellness through Integrated Family Training) aims to integrate the provision of digital parenting support into routine service delivery of the health sector in the Western Cape province, and test the impact of a programme module on child safety.

This presentation will cover our main findings and learnings since the project began in 2023:
Phase 1: 2023-2024. Co-designing the study with stakeholders and adapting a digital parenting chatbot (ParentText) for use in the province.
Pilot Study: 2025. Piloting the trial in a small, rural clinic in the province (and the adjustments that had to follow!)
Phase 2: 2026. Main trial of the study across 6 primary health clinics in Delft and Ceres (preliminary findings).

Speakers

The SWIFT team is part of the Global Parenting Initiative, based in the Safety and Violence Initiative at UCT’s Centre for Social Science Research. From left to right are Likhona Qazisa (Research Assistant), Bronwen Pietersen (Research Assistant), Prof. Catherine Ward (Principal Investigator), Carly Katzef (Co-Investigator and Project Manager), Cindee Bruyns (Co-Principal Investigator) and Ananda Saravanya (MA student).
