Kauthar Khamis is a PhD candidate on the Madina Project. Her research area focuses on beauty practices among Muslim and Christian women in a cosmopolitan but multi-religious setting called Madina Zongo. Her interests are in examining how Muslims and Christian women negotiate ways of being beautiful and pious, as well as how their everyday beauty practices create conviviality or tensions in this religiously plural setting.
