Immersive Cinema Screening
For the past few months nine teams of filmmakers have been working alongside the Centre for Curating the Archive and Iziko Museums of South Africa to create immersive films for the first digital dome film festival in the Southern Hemisphere (with some of the first South African content ever made for the planetarium)!
The CCA hoped that the launch of these films would help to open up new creative possibilities for artists and filmmakers interested in this wonderful immersive environment. Due to multiple factors the festival could only run for three nights and not everyone was able to secure a seat, and, as such, we are happy to announce that Arkology will be hosting a public screening of three of the short films: Inside Out (Adam Oosthuizen, Thom Dreyer, Ross Eyre & Ché Coelho), Reflectance (Jason Stapleton & Jacques van Zyl) and Animortis (Kali van der Merwe and Simon Dunckley).
Join Arkology for an exhibition-style evening at the Octopi & I (100 Voortrekker Road, Salt River, Cape Town) on Thursday the 28th of November from 18:00 to 21:30, where attendees will be able to experience the films in VR, supported by a IAS vinyl soundscape & Delheim wine tasting.
*Tickets are R60 and can be booked here (a limited number will also be available at the door). Tickets include a complimentary glass of wine by Delheim!
**This is a public event and we encourage anyone interested in, or working with traditional and/or immersive art forms to attend.
