Assoc Prof Christine Noe

Christine Noe is an Associate Professor of Human Geography and Principal of College of Social Sciences at the University of Dar es Salaam. She is also an alumnus of the University of Cape Town where she studied her PhD with Prof. Maano Ramutsindela. Her work has been on conservation and development politics and seeks to explain how local and international development politics influence rural livelihoods, land tenure, and security dynamics in Tanzania. She recently led collaborative research projects on conservation partnerships and rural livelihood changes and subsequent publication co-edited book volumes in 2021 with Dan Brockington on ‘Prosperity in Rural Africa. In 2022, Associate Professor Noe published with Stefano Ponte on ‘Contested Sustainability’. Associate Professor Noe's research networks and collaborations have resulted in many successful collaborative projects and international publications in social science-related fields. Her ambition is to continue providing research mentorship for upcoming African scholars.
