Kiya Gazahegne
Kiya Gezahegne is an assistant professor at the Social Anthropology department within Addis Ababa University. She brings extensive experience in gender, migration, and development in the Ethiopian context, serving as Principal Investigator on different projects carrying out studies on migration, development, environment studies, conflict and wellbeing. She brings extensive experience serving as PI and co-PI of projects funded by DELTA II, SOAS University, ODI and IDRC, amongst others. Kiya also brings strong experience in gender in the East African context, leading an analysis of the Ethiopian Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs’ National Women Policy review, and leading a situational analysis of women entrepreneurship in Ethiopia for CARE Ethiopia. She is also part of a longitudinal study, GAGE (Gender and Adolescence: Global Evidence), led by ODI focusing on adolescents’ wellbeing. Kiya conducted extensive fieldwork in almost all parts of Ethiopia and abroad.
