mpho a. ndaba
mpho antoon ndaba is a trained sociologist, with an MA in Sociology (Wits University) and MPhil in Environmental Humanities. He is a PhD Candidate in Social Anthropology, with specialisation in Environmental Humanities South. mpho is an Assistant Lecturer, Head of Communications (EHS & CZA), and the African Environmentalism Hub Leader, which forms part CZA studies. With this Hub, the aim is to think with African theories of personhood and what might constitute habitability in the wake of Anthropocene in Africa.
mpho's research interests include animal studies, migration, black cultural production, African environmentalism, and black planetary politics. mpho is the Open Society Foundations for South Africa scholar (2019) and the 2018 Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans – Environment. mpho's work has appeared in the Mail & Guardian, Africa Is a Country, The Johannesburg Review of Books, and New Agenda Journal
