Dr Nteboheng Phakisi-Portas

Dr Nteboheng Phakisi-Portas is a Social Anthropologist with research interests on the social life of soil. Dr Phakisi-Portas holds a PhD in Social Anthropology, with specialisation in Environmental Humanities South, and an MSc in Geography, with specialisation in International Development.

Dr Phakisi-Portas is the Soil Hub Leader, as part of the CzASE Studies. Under the theme of eco-remediation, the Soil Hub will focus on cost-effective and nature-based remediation techniques to clean up soils contaminated with toxins. The hub will also consult with rural small-scale farmers to explore indigenous and local practices of soil care
