Film screening: "Moving garbage" with Tirso Sitoe

EHS is excited to host the film screening of a documentary film titled "Moving with garbage" by filmmaker and researcher Tirso Sitoe scheduled for 3rd of April 2025, from 11 AM - 12:30 PM at Environmental Humanities South, Office 4.19 Level 4 Humanities Building, Upper Campus
SYNOPSIS - Moving with garbage THE documentary captures and provokes reflections on the way in which young artists emerging from the urban margins of Maputo, from a sociocultural imaginary in contexts of austerity and environmental justice, combine different waste recycling techniques to address environmental crises, based on relationship that society and political authorities have with garbage and impose the challenge of understanding, the trajectories of production and consumption of garbage as an axis of reflection of an education for environmental CITIZENSHIP.

BIO: Tirso Sitoe is a director and researcher at Bloco 4 Foundation- Research in activism, citizenship and social policies. Graduated in Anthropology from Eduardo Mondlane University, postgraduate and master's degree in Intercultural Relations from Open University, Lisbon. His research focuses on issues related to urban, visual and image anthropology, artivisms, gender and human rights, Music of criticism and social protest in post-colonial Mozambique, climate change, youth, social and political empowerment in the global south. In addition to having published several scientific articles on protest RAP in colonial Mozambique, he has coordinated books (poetry and chronicles) on authoritarianism, the closure of civic spaces and human rights in Mozambique.
