This project investigates the impacts of anthropogenic activities on the degradation of hippo habitat, ecological relationships across different species and the possible risks associated with nutrients flow within land-water ecosystems around the lake. The research project focuses on hippo habitat, extinction and the natural environment on and around Lake Tanganyika in Bujumbura, Burundi. The researcher hopes this study will yield new ways of rethinking human-nature relationships within an eco-centric perspective and further inform environmental policies in Burundi and the Great Lake region.
