This research forms part of a transdisciplinary research project Liveable Neighbourhood, which seeks to redesign the Hangberg neighbourhood of Hout Bay, South Africa, using a water sensitive design (WSD), funded by the Water Research Commission.

Faith Gara is a masters student in the Environmental Humanities South Program. She holds BA Honours in Development Studies (UNISA). Her research interests include exploring alternative ways to improve water governance, water management and policy formulation through inclusive and democratic engagements with citizens, municipalities and relevant stakeholders for better service delivery and the wellbeing of water bodies in South African urban areas.
