Dr Tawanda Jimu

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Tawanda Jimu is the Commons Governance Hub Leader, which forms part of the CzASE Studies. Tawanda holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Environmental Studies (Stellenbosch), and an MPhil in Poverty, Land and Agrarian studies (PLAAS, University of the Western Cape). Before joining EHS, Jimu was a postdoctoral researcher at the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI), focussing on sustainability transitions (2022-2023). He was awarded a DFG/ German Research Foundation visiting research fellowship grant by Futures of Sustainability Centre, University of Hamburg in 2023. Tawanda’s research focuses on integrated resource governance and conflicts, commons governance, human dimensions of small-scale fisheries, sustainability transitions, and just energy transitions.
