Dr Martin Chari
Martin Munashe Chari is a Junior Research Fellow in Environmental Humanities South (EHS) under the Carnegie DEAL 3 Developing Emerging Academic Leaders award scheme. He holds a PhD in Geography and MSc in Applied Remote Sensing & Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Previously, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Fort Hare’s Centre for Global Change (UFH-CGC). Martin has experience in development, implementation, reporting, and monitoring of multi-stakeholder research projects. He also has previous work experience as a GIS & remote sensing lecturer. Martin has published work covering climate change strategies, energy, and sustainable agriculture and previously secured several international grants for training and travel. Martin has served as the coordinator of contributions to the Frontiers in Environmental Science journal on the topic of sustainability challenges around energy poverty in an era of global environmental and economic crisis. His interests are in applying geospatial techniques to global change investigations and enhancing adaptation strategies, leading to policy recommendations. Martin is a member of the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC).
