Mary Nassimbeni

Emeritus Associate Professor

Mary Nassimbeni is Emerita Associate Professor in the Library and Information Studies Centre.

Mary has a PhD in library and information studies from the University of Cape Town. Her research interests include a study of public libraries in South Africa – their role and impact, and reading.  Mary supervises Master’s and PhD students in the Department. She is a Board member of Biblionef, an NGO in Cape Town which donates books in mother tongue to help children and adolescents who have no access to library materials. Currently she is part of a research team doing an evaluation project, :Providing Storybooks and Mentoring to Foundation Phase Teachers at 10 Schools, in the Inchanga Circuit”
