A collaboration between UCT and Sunshine Cinema

Running since 2020, the five-month UCT Sunshine Cinema Film Impact Facilitator short course offers online training on using film as a tool for social change. It also provides access to a network of inspiring change makers and introduces participants to skilled impact producers.

Collectively, participants have hosted film screenings in 15 countries, namely South Africa, Uganda, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya, the UK, Honduras, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Hawaii, Namibia, St Eustatius and the USA.

Films at these screenings have covered issues around climate justice, land and housing, gender-based violence, gender equality, education, children’s rights, positive self-image, mental health, indigenous knowledge systems and migration.
