“Theatre as a tool is a healing space”: Ruvimbo Tenga-  Activist, Freelance Consultant and member of the Sex Worker Theatre Group

On Monday, 22 March 2020, Ruvimbo Tenga, activist, freelance consultant and member of the Sex Worker Theatre Group and Steering Committee Member under the Global GRACE Project; spoke of her experiences as a migrant sex worker and activist in South Africa at the online symposium, Uncovering: Women’s Invisible Labour at the Cape. During the presentation, Ruvimbo shared that sex work has given her the freedom to explore herself, the world and advocate for decimalisation of sex work in South Africa. On her participation in the Global GRACE project, Ruvimbo Tenga expressed that theatre as a tool is a healing space that strips one from the darkness. Theatre has allowed to Ruvimbo to release a lot of pain, hurt and trauma.
