Onthou vi Fredo? is a powerful and intimate portrayal of the life and legacy of local Queer Icon and Drag Queen, Alfredo (“Tannie, Anuschka De Patre”) Lorenzo April. This moving documentary asks the critical question: “Do you remember Alfredo?” The film explores memory as a catalyst for social justice, touching on themes of solidarity, ally-ship, and remembrance. Through this film, Fredo’s story is brought to life with raw honesty and love, and ensures that his tragic murder and enduring impact on the community of Malmesbury are never forgotten.

This film was made by Cleveland Hopp (writer and director), Mpho Modisakeng (Cinematographer and Editor), and Quaanita Triegaardt (Producer and Sound Recordist) as their dissertation for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) specialising in Film Theory and Practice.
