The National Council for Library & Information Services (NCLIS) plays a crucial role as the principal advisory body to the Minister of Arts and Culture on matters relating to library and information services in South Africa. The Council is vital in advocating for and shaping a sector that supports national development, social cohesion and a truly informed citizenry.

We offer our heartfelt congratulations to our head of department, Dr Andiswa Mfengu, for being appointed Chairperson of the NCLIS for 2025-2028. This is a pivotal leadership role.
