Brief Biography:
As social worker she has worked in the field of mental health and trauma and joined the department as a lecturer in 2009. She coordinated the department’s response to the xenophobic crisis in 2008 and was also part of the mental health team during the Fees Must Fall campaign in 2015 and 2016 which provided psychological support to students. She has a keen interest in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and has developed the RPL practices in the department. In her capacity as undergraduate convenor, she has also expanded the academic and psychosocial support offered to students. This has required building partnerships with a range of service providers. Dr Williams has also established several partnerships within the university to expand the academic support programme which she initiated.
