Brief Biography:
I am Nawaal, a registered social worker that wants to be equipped enough to develop and make a difference in the lives of people. Like many in my generation, I had to leave school to assist the family financially. I started my career as a waitress but was restless because I knew developing myself would provide me with the necessary tools to make a difference, where it will be most needed. As a future social development practitioner, I am looking forward to changing lives, procedures and eventually laws and policies. I am known for my strong leadership abilities and confidence to interact with people. In the work environment, making a difference has been my journey through, developing strategic documentation and growing people resulting in making the working environment favourable and dynamic. My passion for working with older persons was provoked when I formed part of the team of officials who worked the public hearings hosted by Parliament of RSA, on the Older Person Bill of 2008. Our legacy lies in the eyes of our older people, but we are not giving them the consideration and care that they rightfully deserve. As a Parliamentary Official and a South African I would like to change that, by opening the minds of those in power to maintain the inheritance that our older people hold.

Title of Dissertation:
An exploration of the care of older persons in institutional care in South Africa
