Liam Keene

I graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Social Anthropology and Religious Studies at the University of Cape Town in 2011. I completed an Honours degree at UCT in Social Anthropology in 2012, with my dissertation having dealt with how historical conflict was manifested and negotiated in the possession of Swazi and Shangaan thokoza sangomas in the present. I submitted a Social Anthropology Master’s dissertation in 2014, in which I demonstrate how ancestral cultural heterogeneity is invoked by Shangaan sangomas in Cape Town and Limpopo Province.

I am now focusing on a long-term interest in Witchcraft and Paganism/Heathenry in early medieval Anglo-Saxon England and Scandinavia, which I hope to, at some stage, explore within academia.
