Andrew Putter

Andrew Putter is an artist and teacher. His Fine Art Masters focused on the early twentieth century portrait photographs of Alfred Martin Duggan-Cronin. Putter is currently coordinating a two-and-a-half year project for the Cape Town Partnership. Called the Neighbourhood Communication Project, it investigates how best to enable communication between collaborators who work across complex social divides. The project is particularly concerned with inner city improvement projects – of all kinds – and works across sectors, including education, city governance, citizenry and deal-making. Putter’s artworks have been exhibited widely, including on the Venice Biennale (where the work he produced within the context of APC represented South Africa in 2013), at the Smithsonian Museum of African Art in Washington, and at the National Ethnographic Museum in the Netherlands.
