Brief Biography:
Malesitsi Leokaoke is a Masters student specializing in Social Development. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree with a triple major in Political Science, Social Development and History and an Honours degree in Social Development. She has been involved in different community initiatives at UCT. In 2018 she was a student leader, mentor, and head of outreach at her residence. During this time, she organised student transformation talks to address issues of inclusivity and decolonization, as well as Pride awareness walks, and fundraisers to assist communities that were affected by fires in Cape Town. In 2019 she joined Remember and Give (RAG) a UCT organisation that works with SHAWCO to raise funds for the university’s charitable projects. Her engagement included providing food and essential items, organising sports days for children and fundraising for clothes for children living in Khayelitsha and at different orphanages.
