Fiona Grayer
Fiona Grayer is passionate about the Arts and developing young talent and has 15 plus years’ experience in the South African music industry, having worked as both musician and music administrator. Fiona graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from the University of Cape Town and during her studies, passed both the Performer’s Licentiate and Teacher’s Licentiates (UNISA) with distinction. She has taught music extensively at schools and music development projects in Cape Town and Durban and has performed in Durban’s Baroque2000 ensemble and the Stellenbosch University Camerata. Fiona was a member of the Cape Town six celli ensemble, Igrandi Violoncellisti, and Durban’s four celli ensemble, Cellibration, which, inter alia, performed with great success at the National Arts Festival. Fiona was a cellist with the KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra for 11 years before moving to Stellenbosch in 2016 to take up the position of Artistic Manager (Planning and Communications) at the Stellenbosch University Music Department (2016-2023). During this time, she also fulfilled the roles of Marketing and Publicity Manager for the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival and International Piano Symposium (2016-2022), Classical Music Coordinator for the Stellenbosch University Toyota Woordfees (2017-2021) and Concert Curator for Old Nectar Concerts (2022-present). She is currently completing her Masters degree in Music. Fiona is also a qualified Occupational Therapist.
