Izan Greyling
Izan grew up in Durbanville outside Cape Town and studied architecture at UPE where he graduated with a Bachelor of Building Arts in 1987. While working in London he became interested in sound and in 1990 started working at dB Studios in Durban. This was followed by 9 years at the Playhouse Company where he became the head of the Sound Department. In 1999 he started Sonic Studios and also started lecturing at Technikon Natal. He obtained a Masters in Music Technology from UKZN in 2008 and relocated to Cape Town where he worked on the sound installation at Cape Town stadium and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Subsequent to that he became HOD of the sound department at SAE Institute, an international Sound, Film and Animation college. In 2019 he joined the South African College of Music in the role of Chief Technical Officer. Izan is passionate about music and technology and believes arts education is a powerful vehicle for social development.
