Morné Bezuidenhout completed his postgraduate studies on two liturgical manuscripts in the Grey Collection of the National Library of South Africa at the University of South Africa under the guidance of Christoph Stroux. He was appointed as a Junior Lecturer at the University of Port Elizabeth (now the Nelson Mandela University) in 1981 and promoted to Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in 1984, 1992 and 2000. In addition to teaching Western classical history and theory at UPE, he also introduced undergraduate courses in the history of South African popular music and jazz, and established a 4-year undergraduate B.Mus programme in Music Technology. In 2003 he was appointed as Senior Lecturer at the South African College of Music and promoted to Associate Professor in 2015. At the SACM he served as Director from 2010 to 2013. His research interests include the liturgical manuscripts from the diocese of Münster in Westphalia. In 2014 he was invited to present guest lectures on a manuscript from Münster, now in the Grey Collection, at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (Münster) and the University of Regensburg.
