The Dante Quartet is amongst the finest ensembles in the United Kingdom, known for its imaginative programming and impassioned performances. The Quartet was founded in 1995 and chose its name to reflect the idea of an epic journey. The Quartet is formed by two South African violinists, Zoƫ Beyers and Ian Watson, and UK violist Carol Ella and cellist Richard Jenkinson. They have performed widely within the UK, France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Finland, Czech Republic, Poland and has twice toured Japan. The Quartet has been honoured with the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Chamber Music and has also received international awards for its recordings.
For this free Lunch Hour concert, the Dante Quartet present a Youth Concert aimed at 9-13 yr olds where they will get to interact with the musicians and hear music in a new way. Works to be performed will Include Piazzolla, Tchaikovsky, and a brand new work written especially for the tour by Tom Davey.
