KANAK, the dynamic Indo-African fusion collaboration, is back by popular demand!
After a hugely successful lunchtime concert at the South African College of Music (SACM), UCT, they will be performing an extended evening set.
Prepare for a mesmerising journey through rhythmic landscapes, where traditional Indian melodies intertwine with the rich sounds of African music. This concert is a unique opportunity for students and the public to witness this exciting cross-cultural musical dialogue.
KANAK is an Indo-African fusion ensemble led by Vishnu R (India) and SACM, UCT Alumni Sean Sanby and Lilavan Gangen (South Africa).

Vishnu R is one of the popular, pioneering & dynamic musicians from India today. A OneBeat Virtual 2 alumnus, he is the inventor and patent-holder of the ‘NAVTAR’ – a unique 9-string instrument with a ‘New Global sound’ (Times of India, 2021). A ‘Mentor’ of British Council and western Classical graduate from Trinity College of London, Vishnu’s mastery and ability to inter-weave intricate Indian Ragas and Western harmony seamlessly, has gained him international recognition as a band-leader and composer, with over 600+ performances & workshops across India, Europe, UK & USA, including collaborations with 5-time Grammy winning artists ‘Snarky Puppy’ & Angelique Kidjo.
