Taking to the streets for SA Library Week 2025

Academics and students from our department recently joined City of Cape Town Library and Information Services on their road march to commemorate South African Library Week (SALW). The theme for this year’s SALW (17-23 March 2025) was ‘Libraries for Sustainable Communities’ and drew attention to the benefits that libraries and their services bring to their communities.

The road march left from Central Library and wound its way through the streets of central Cape Town. A cheerful mood prevailed as librarians from different sectors and from across the city gathered to celebrate and increase awareness of their field.
