Annual PGDipLIS prizegiving event - 2025
The annual prizegiving ceremony for our Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies (PGDipLIS) class was held on 22 October, giving the department an opportunity not only to award prizes but bid the class farewell as students concluded their final week of lectures and began preparation for their final examinations.
A number of awards were handed out:
- The official departmental Award for Best Academic Performance will be announced later in the year, once final marks are released. In the meantime, certificates of excellence were presented to Aqeelah Ally, Sarah Amod, Kerry Backes, Joëlle Davidson Kai, Keren Hellenberg, Sophie Joffe Hunter and Zaghra Savahl.
- The official departmental Award for Dedication and Perseverance went to Yanga Tolbadi.
- Kyle Brogden, Zandile Mnombeni, Ntokozo Nkosi and Banele Zantsi received certificates acknowledging their consistent effort and diligence during the year.
- Francis Searle received the MaNel Trust award for Space Planning; and
- Joëlle Davidson Kai received the MaNel Trust award for the Library Leadership essay.
The ceremony ended with certificates of completion for the Personal and Professional Programme (from UCT Careers Service) being shared with students.
The department congratulates all the awardees and wishes the class well for the future.
