The Development and Social Neuroscience of Morality in Infants and Toddlers
by Dr Jean Decety, who is the Irving B. Harris Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Chicago. Dr. Decety is a neuroscientist specializing in developmental neuroscience, affective neuroscience, and social neuroscience, and is the Director of the Child NeuroSuite and the Social Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory. Dr. Decety is currently on sabbatical at UCT.
Theory of Mind and its Association with Prosocial and Antisocial Behaviour in Western Cape Children
by Dr Susan Malcolm-Smith, who is a neuropsychologist and senior lecturer in the Department of Psychology at UCT. Her research interests centre on how emotion impacts adaptive social function. She approaches this question from affective neuroscience and neuropsychological frameworks.
Is there a Relationship between Empathy and Aggressive Behaviour?
by Lea-Ann Pileggi, who is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Psychology at UCT. She is currently completing her doctoral study which focuses on investigating predictors of aggressive behaviours in South African children and young adolescents, with a particular interest in the role of empathy.
