Consortium launches Feminist Alternatives for (post-)COVID-19 Engagements (FACE) in Africa project with funding from OSIWA
The Institute for Humanities in Africa (HUMA) at the University of Cape Town, the Centre of African Studies (CAS) at the University of Edinburgh, and the Laboratoire d’analyse des sociétés et pouvoirs / Afrique-Diasporas (LASPAD) at the University of Gaston Berger Senegal are pleased to announce the launch of a new project on Feminist Alternatives for (post-)COVID-19 Engagements (FACE) in Africa starting from January 2021.
The project is funded by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) and will be contributing to efforts to strengthen the nexus between social sciences and the humanities' responses to COVID-19 with a feminist intersectional lens to deal with the social, economic and political impact of COVID-19 in Africa. The project is led by PI Rama Salla Dieng, University of Edinburgh, in partnership with Mame Penda Ba, Director of LASPAD, University of Gaston Berger and Divine Fuh, Director of HUMA, University of Cape Town.
Implementing partners include: the African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), The African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP), and other arts collectives such Journal Télévisé Rappé, Njegemaar and Linguere Communications.
