Félix Garnier
Félix Garnier is a Visiting Doctoral Research Fellow at HUMA and a PhD student in Ecological Economics at the University of Bordeaux, France. Felix is a research fellow at the Schumacher Institute in Bristol, United Kingdom. Initially trained as a development economist at CERDI (International Centre for Studies and Research in International Development) in Clermont-Ferrand, France, his PhD research explores why “mainstream” development thinking prevents satisfying basic human needs for all while maintaining environmental sustainability. Currently, his research focuses on developing a theoretical framework for “Ubuntu economics” and its potential applications in South Africa. Besides academic research, Félix is an activist involved in social and environmentalist movements in France and abroad. He is currently serving as an administrator for the International Degrowth Network, and as an editor for the Mondes en Décroissance journal.
