Application Procedure
To apply, please email the below documents in a single file to: huma@uct.ac.za
- A covering letter including a detailed account of how your research and intellectual interests would fit with, and contribute to, HUMA’s agenda
- Curriculum vitae and a full list of publications/research output
- Reports from three referees (may be emailed directly to huma@uct.ac.za), preferably two from researchers based at institutions in two different African countries, and one outside the African continent
- Certified copies of all academic transcripts, please do not include copies of certificates
- One recent publication or piece of written work
- A research proposal on the thematic focus, as stipulated above, not exceeding three (3) pages. It should include: Research problem, methodology and conceptual & theoretical framework; Potential sources of external funding for the proposed research activities; Strategies for disseminating research findings (including platforms for policy engagements and media activities).
All applicants are subject to the policies, procedures and rules applicable at the University of Cape Town.
Postdoctoral research fellowships
The closing dates are stated on the individual advert. Late and/or incomplete applications will be disqualified.
Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. As part of the recruitment process, shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their proposed research projects at HUMA. Successful candidates will join the Institute remotely or in person as and when regulations permit.
HUMA reserves the right to 1) make no awards at all; 2) to cancel the award if the conditions are not met; and 3) to effect changes to the conditions of the award.
