Professor André du Toit is an Emeritus Professor with the Department of Political Studies at the University of Cape Town and serves as an Honorary Research Affiliate at the IDCPPA. He has a Drs Phil from Leyden University and a DPhil. from Stellenbosch University.

His research interests are: Intellectual history of South African political thought and traditions; political ethics, ideologies and discourse;  philosophical reflections on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission; the narrative interpretation of political violence in South Africa.
