Afrobarometer is a pan-African, non-partisan research network that conducts public attitude surveys on democracy, governance, economic conditions, and related issues in more than 35 countries in Africa. Through our findings, ordinary citizens can have a voice in policy-making processes that affect their lives.
We are the world’s leading research project on issues that affect ordinary African men and women. We collect and publish high-quality, reliable statistical data on Africa which is freely available to the public.
Here at UCT, the data management team prepares country partners for Electronic Data Capture, including programming of instruments and technical assistance prior to fieldwork operations. The team also reviews and cleans all country datasets and prepares merged datasets. We finalise documentation to accompany datasets, including codebooks and Summaries of Results. We also deal with data dissemination processes, including processing restricted and geocoded data requests and SPSS licensing to network members.
Jamy Felton oversees the work of the team and acts as the main data contact person within the network and with donors and data users. She is responsible for dataset tracking and monitoring as well as data dissemination. She is assisted by Najib Ben Saad in data set cleaning as well as providing technical assistance to country partners. A team of data assistants and interns work on dataset cleaning and finalizing documentation to accompany datasets.
