IDCPPA report to UCT
The Institute for Democracy, Citizenship and Public Policy in Africa was established in 2017 to conduct empirical research into the factors that strengthen and sustain democracy across Africa. Our team of researchers – including post-doctoral research fellows and PhD students – approach the study of democracy from four broad directions: public opinion and voting behaviour, political parties and elected representatives, regional and international factors, and the consequences for public policy.
We address these questions through data collection (including both quantitative and qualitative data, through large-scale surveys, interviews and, where appropriate, archival research) by both teams of researchers and individual researchers. We hold regular seminars (or webinars) and workshops. We collaborate with researchers elsewhere in Africa and further afield.
