In 2015 a Humanities Extended Degree Student Council (EDSC) was established. The EDSC manifesto includes:

• identifying problems concerning Humanities ED students and finding solutions to these
• supporting ED students to achieve their educational and vocational goals

The members of the student council work hand in hand with the Humanities LSU staff staff help support ED students. They are the bridge between the faculty and the students in the  ED programme. Representatives are elected for the following portfolios: Chairperson, Secretary General, Mentorship & Orientation, Transformation, Academics, Welfare, and Social Events & Public Relations.
