Background and Research Interests:
Sia Maw is a Clinical Psychologist with a PhD from the Department of Psychology at UCT. Her PhD was a longitudinal study on the psychological impact of rape on adult female survivors.
Since completion of her PhD Sia segued into a focus on clinical work with families, parents and individual adult clients. She is the Course Convenor for the Clinical Psychology Masters Programme, in Department of Psychology, at the University of Cape Town. The Child Guidance Clinic (CGC) is the home of the Clinical Psychology Masters Programme, and is located on lower campus. The CGC is a public service clinic which provides psychological services for children, families and adults. Sia supervises the clinical work undertaken at the Clinic and teaches on the programme. She has particular interest in working with children with special needs or who are neurodivergent, and supporting their families.
Sia holds a teaching only position in the Department. As such she does not offer any research supervision at either Honours, Masters or PhD levels.
