Dr Sikhanyiso Masuku

Honorary Research Associate, IDCPPA

Dr. Sikanyiso Masuku is a Honorary Research Associate at the IDCPPA. He graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in Conflict Transformation and Peace Studies from the University of KwaZulu Natal. He has strong research interests in how the intersection of social protection, notions on citizenship, and social networks, influence the integration aspects of migration.

Most of Dr. Masuku’s recent work has focused on the intersection of immigration law and child protection, international refugee law and most recently, as an international collaborator with the University of Neuchatel’s NCCR – he has been part of a team examining intergroup relations in the context of democratic backsliding.

Beyond his primary research interests in human mobility and migration, Dr. Sikanyiso Masuku’s teaching has also inspired him to delve into related topics such as social development, welfare, inequality/poverty, social theory, and development economics.
