Winnie Arthur is a Sociology PhD student at the IDCPPA at the University of Cape Town. Her research interests, broadly defined, center on examining the welfare apparatus of southern African countries, and how their complex amalgam of ameliorative social programs affect young people’s conception, articulation and agitation for policies that are more economically emancipatory in nature.
Prior to this, she was the technical lead of the research department at Young1ove Organization working to scale up two evidence-based education programs in Botswana. Winnie received her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Berea College and her Masters in International Education Development from the University of Pennsylvania.
