Solomon Eghosa Uhunamure

Postdoctoral Research Fellow | Focus: Africa AI Ethics

Solomon Eghosa Uhunamure is CCNY Postdoctoral Fellow at HUMA. He holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of Venda, South Africa. His research focused on sustainable energy transitions and environmental governance in the context of developing economies. His current postdoctoral research examines the evolving nexus of sovereignty, artificial intelligence (AI), and electronic waste (e-waste), exploring how emerging technologies and environmental externalities are reshaping the traditional boundaries of state authority and global governance. He holds an Msc in Environmental Sciences and a BA in Environmental Sciences (Hons) from the University of Venda, South Africa and a Bsc (Hons) in Geography and Regional Planning from Delta State University, Nigeria.

Solomon’s academic and professional journey has been rooted in the intersection of environmental sustainability, public policy, and technological development, particularly within African contexts. His interdisciplinary approach integrates insights from environmental studies, international relations, digital ethics, and development studies, contributing to debates on digital colonialism, environmental justice, and sustainable development. Solomon was part of the UCT’s SDG postdoctoral research fellows.
