Helsinki prize at the IFTR 2023
A huge congratulations to Lesego Chauke (PhD), for winning the Helsinki Prize at the International Federation of Theatre Research (IFTR) for her essay ‘“Live and Proclaim!": Mourning as Resistance in the Context of Pervasive Death in Mark Fleishman’s Antigone (Not Quite/Quiet)’.
She presented her paper titled: “Of Martyrdom/the Mythology of the Tragic Hero: Exploring the Rising Significance of the Chorus in Contemporary South African Adaptations of Classical Greek tragedy” at the 2023 Conference held in Accra this year.
