The CCA is developing a short and long term plan to create a skills-base and upgrade skills in the much-needed area of conservation, especially as it relates to paper. There are several initiatives planned, both as structured parts of the curriculum at Michaelis and UCT, and as short courses and workshops. We are hoping to engage our colleagues at neighbouring institutions and departments in discussion and to share our resources where possible. Staff from Iziko, the NLSA, the University of Stellenbosch and UCT Libraries have all been invited to attend the paper conservation workshops that have been run by the CCA.
