Roxanne Elizabeth Jones

Roxy was born in Johannesburg and completed her BA in Linguistics and French at the University of Cape Town. Roxy's Honours in Curatorship manifested through an alignment of experience in language teaching and fine art, culminating a research project on female labour in the textile industry in South Africa through cultural analysis of the sewing machine and mixed racial identity. Currently completing a MPhil in Digital Curation at UCT, Roxy's research interests focus on providing access points to archival documents and objects in related indigenous communities, and open access within the research landscape as a force for sustainable socio-economic change. Roxy has been assisting with the Digital Bleek and Lloyd project since 2022 and is focused on the digital curation of the lexicons of ancestral South African languages in the archive.
