Guest Lecture - Crafting Your Path: Legal and Practical Tools for Graduates

Travis George Moore combines legal expertise with a rich musical background as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa (2024) and former soloist & ad hoc musician with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO). He holds an LLB from the University of Cape Town and a Performance Diploma in Music (awarded with distinction), earning three consecutive Dean's Merit List placements (2011-2013). His unique qualifications shape his innovative approach to entertainment law and intellectual property, particularly in cross-disciplinary cases.
As a musician, Moore performed as a soloist with the CPO and achieved international recognition during his studies at the École Normale de Musique de Paris: Alfred Cortot. Highlights include participating in the Premier Concours International Junior de Flûte Maxence Larrieu (2007), winning First Prize at the 2008 Concours de Flûte Traversière, and performing at South Africa's Grahamstown National Arts Festival. These experiences informed his work with the CPO before transitioning into law, where he brings artistic insight to legal issues.
Now practising at The Chambers of 50 Keerom Street, Moore focuses on general litigation while maintaining a personal interest in contracts that balance artistic integrity with commercial goals. His legal practice benefits from the discipline and collaboration skills developed through his musical career, enabling him to resolve complex disputes and advise startups on intellectual property strategies.
Moore’s career was shaped following a house fire that destroyed his home and income shortly after completing his music diploma. This event inspired him to diversify his skills and build a sustainable, multidimensional career. Whether reviewing contracts or developing contingency plans, Moore's approach blends vision with practicality, turning challenges into opportunities for growth.
