Join Argentine Tango dancer and teacher, Wikus Engelbrecht for a compelling lecture demonstration exploring the rich, often overlooked African influences in the origins and development of Tango. With over a decade of experience and international study under leading Tango maestros, Engelbrecht brings deep insight and passion to this engaging presentation.

Wikus Engelbrecht is an Argentine Tango dancer, teacher, organiser and DJ based in Cape Town. An enthusiast of the genre since early 2011, he lived for years in the United States studying directly under a range of maestros from Buenos Aires and elsewhere in the Río de la Plata region. While in America he started a Tango club at Oregon State University and later worked for a Tango company in Washington D.C. In 2017 he organised the first international Tango festival for Southern Africa, with the latest iteration of this event happening 5-7 December 2025. A passionate aficionado of the dance, its music and its history: he will share the fascinating story of Africa's contributions to Tango's origins and development.

Admission is free. All are welcome.
