Neues Lied – a festival for art song founded by Esthea Kruger in 2018 in Germany and established in South Africa in 2022 – returns this year from 12-16 September for its second edition in Cape Town. The festival consists of several events highlighting the multifaceted beauty of the art song genre: a series of concerts with national and international singers, several masterclasses, and a competition for young art song duos from the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University.

Tickets to the concerts and final round of the competition can be purchased on Webtickets; entry to the masterclasses and first round of the competition is free.

The festival features Violina Anguelov-Hobbs, Farida Bacharova, Minette du Toit-Pearce, Graham du Plessis, Silke Evers, Konstantin Ingenpaß, Azra Isaacs, Juliet String Quartet, Esthea Kruger, Paulina Malefane and Albie van Schalkwyk.
