“Ubuntu in Sound”is a dynamic Africa Month music-and-movement concert celebrating the essence of unity through African folkloric and contemporary performances. Rooted in the philosophy of Ubuntu, often expressed as “I am because we are,”the concert honours African heritage while highlighting the evolution of music and movement as living, communal practices.
The programme showcases the UCT Ibuyambo and Pan-African Music Ensembles, weaving an array of musical styles alongside traditional and contemporary dance in a joint collaborative performance.Through rhythm, voice and movement, students explore the intricate relationship between the individual and community through shared responsibilities and collective expression.
